The conservatory is a neighborhood organization dedicated to teach children and adults the value of music as they learn to play. They encourage local neighbors to visit and listen.The site is a gateway to this district, irregularly shaped by the streets. There are three existing buildings which will all will be reused.

The entire site will be used for listening and playing music.  Also, all of the existing buildings will be connected with the new building, for ease of access.
   • A long narrow rectilinear building, curving with the site, lifted 20 feet above the      ground, will connect everything.
   • A grand ‘stadium’ staircase will be the main entry and a civic attractor for public use.
   • The exterior areas of the site will be used for playing and listening to music.
   • The building will be enclosed with a metal skin and double layer of translucent
      thermoplastic ‘fabric’.
   • Materials will be concrete structure, steel, glass, sheet metal siding with translucent         skin, plaster walls.
